Image compressor: photos up to 90% smaller for your website
Drop your photos here. We resize them for the web and convert them to WebP or JPG, without uploading them anywhere.
- Images are never uploaded
- Strips metadata (GPS)
- No sign-up, no limits
What image compression does and why it matters
A photo from a phone is usually 3 to 6 MB and 4,000 pixels wide. On a website it is shown at most 1,200 to 1,920 pixels wide, so most of the file is downloaded for nothing. Compression scales it to the size it really needs and saves it in a format that takes less space.
WebP is the format Google recommends for the web: at the same quality it usually produces noticeably smaller files than JPG, and every modern browser supports it.
How it works
- 1
Drop your photos
Up to 20 at a time, in JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
- 2
Pick format, quality and width
WebP at 80% and 1,920 px wide suits most websites.
- 3
It all happens in your browser
Your images aren't uploaded to any server. You see right away how much each one shrank.
- 4
Download them
One by one or all together, ready for your website or shop.
Why compress the images on your website
Images are the heaviest part
On most websites, photos are the largest share of what a visitor downloads. They are the first thing we look at when a site is slow.
Faster page, better Google ranking
The main image usually decides LCP, one of the speed metrics Google uses in ranking.
No location in the metadata
Phone photos often keep the GPS coordinates of where they were taken. Re-encoding here strips them.
Three things to every image, in one go
The same settings we apply on the websites we build, available for any photo you upload yourself.
Resize
To the width it is actually shown at.
- 1,920 px for full-width images
- 1,200 px for articles and products
- 800 px for small cards
Compress
A smaller file with no visible difference.
- Quality from 40% to 95%
- 80% suits most photos
- See the saving on every file
Convert
To the format that suits the web.
- WebP for websites
- JPG where compatibility matters
- Correct orientation for phone photos
Before you upload your photos
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser. The images never leave your computer or phone.
What quality should I choose?
For website photos, 75% to 85% looks the same as the original on most screens. For product photos with fine detail, go up to 85% to 90%.
WebP or JPG?
WebP for anything going on a website or online shop: every modern browser supports it and the files are smaller. JPG if your platform doesn't accept WebP or the image is going out by email.
Why did an image get bigger?
It happens when an image is already compressed or very small, or when it is a PNG graphic with few colours. In that case keep the original file; the tool flags it for you.
Want this to happen automatically across your website?
On the websites we build, every image you upload is resized and converted automatically, in every size each screen needs. You upload the photo, we make sure it loads fast.
